Prayer & trust

Finding Words for Prayer in the Waiting

When answers feel distant, a simple and honest prayer can become a daily place of connection.

Bring the unanswered question

Waiting can make prayer feel repetitive. We return to the same concern and wonder whether we have anything new to say. Yet prayer can hold repetition. You can name the person you miss, the decision you cannot make yet, or the uncertainty that follows you through the day.

Make space for silence

Try sitting quietly for a few minutes with your feet resting on the floor. Offer one sentence to God, then allow a little silence. If your mind wanders, gently return to that sentence. There is no need to manufacture a feeling or turn the moment into a measure of your faith.

Let prayer accompany action

Trust can travel alongside practical care. While waiting for an answer, send the necessary message, ask a trusted person for help, or attend to the work that is yours today. Prayer gives us a place to bring the limits of our control while we remain attentive to our responsibilities.

A prayer for today

God, you know the questions I am carrying. Give me patience for what remains unresolved, wisdom for what I can do, and openness to the people who offer care along the way.
